Eight grade review

Her being so unsure about herself makes me want to see more and what she is able to do. Briefly introduce the work (title, author, genre, and type—novel, film, poem, etc.). The film's name is Eighth Grade and is made by Bo Burnham. The genre is comedy, youthful and coming of age.

Clearly state your overall opinion or main point about the work (what you thought about it and why it's important or worth discussing).
I think it was a good movie but it had some very awkward moments. It really shows the coming of age and the movie is important for people that are in the same situation.

Present your first key point or argument (e.g., character development, theme, or plot).
It was an awkward movie, a clear example was when she sucked on a banana to know how it would be in real life. Her dad comes in and that is not realistic because why would he always interrupt her when she’s doing weird things.
It was hard to watch because all I could do was laugh, it was just so embarrassing to watch.
Everytime Kayla finished her vlog she did some symbol with her hand and said gucci. I think the author did this so that we would remember who she was and remember the movie. Because that was the most I remembered from the movie because it was weird.  It was also a part that made it awkward to watch but it had some kind of meaning.
Kayla was always so mean to her dad. He never yelled back and it doesn't seem real to me. If I was being like that to my mom she would not take it so easy. She would yell back and say it’s not okay but he just lives with it.
Because she takes everything out on her dad it shows how unsure she is of herself and that her father doesn’t know how to respond. He donät know how to take care and help her in the way she needs.
The movie was awkward and it seemed a bit unrealistic. She’s very unsure about herself and I think she needs a female figure in her life that she looks up to. Kayla is always mean to her father and he just takes it because he doesn’t know how to react. She does the weirdest things like training sucking on a banana. She needs to be more confident.
I would recommend seeing this movie if you are a shy and not so confident person. Even if it’s embarrassing sometimes it’s worth watching the whole film. I tried to put myself in her position and I would definitely make other choices then her but how would you do if you were her?
